David Soul, originally named David Richard Solberg, was an American-British actor and singer. He gained fame for his portrayal of Detective Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson in the TV series Starsky & Hutch from 1975 to 1979. Additionally, he played Joshua Bolt on Here Come the Brides from 1968 to 1970 and Officer John Davis in Magnum Force in 1973.
Apart from his acting career, Soul had success as a singer, achieving one hit in the US and five hits in the UK. His notable songs include “Don’t Give Up on Us,” which reached No. 1 in the US, Canada, and the UK in 1976, and “Silver Lady,” which topped the UK charts in 1977. Soul also starred in the popular 1979 American TV movie Salem’s Lot, based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name.
